The following are schools, dojo’s, gyms and people that Red River Judo has either partnered with over the years, worked with in some way, or our members have trained at. Red River Judo prides itself on being respectful to those who came before us, as well as the respect the knowledge that people bring with them into our gym. So with great respect, we give a shout out to the following:

  • Gentle Ways – The association that Red River Judo is partnered with. All of the schools associated with Gentle Ways are great resources for Judo and continue to carry on the legacy of those who came before us.
  • Steve Scott – The founder of Freestyle Judo and a pioneer of Kodokan Judo in the United States. Steve an his team have acted as mentors to many schools.
    • Welcome Mat Judo – Founded in 1969 by Steve Scott, the Welcome Mat Judo and Jujitsu Club is the most successful and oldest judo club in the Kansas City area.
  • Detroit Lakes Brazilian Jiu Jitsu – a number of our team cross train with Professor Da Costa at DLBJJ. It is a fantastic hidden gem.
  • Red River Tae Kwon Do – Red River Judo shares a building with RRTKD, and without the continued support of Master Jim and his team, we would not be where we are today. If you are looking for the best TKD around, this is the place.
  • Dakota Budokan – A fantastic Judo school in Sioux Falls South Dakota. Brad at Dakota Budokan has partnered with Red River for events. They are definitely part of the family.
  • Lakea Vargas – Sensei Vargas payed us a visit and we greatly appreciated him sharing his knowledge. We look forward to having Lakea back soon.
    • Orlando Brazilian Jiu Jitsu – After visiting Red River, Sensei Vargas started his own Freestyle Judo program at Ordland Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. If you are in the Orlando area, be sure to check it out!
  • Combined Martial Science – Our own Andrew Gill’s home gym, where he earned his black belt in Jujitsu and trained Mixed Martial Arts.
  • Associação Pederneirense de Judô F.A.V. – Vinicius Siqueira’s family’s Gym in Pederneiras, Sau Paulo, Brazil. Vinnie has been awesome about sharing his family’s judo and we greatly appreciate Vinnie sharing that linage with our club.
  • Ipswich Judo Club – Sophie Ouazzani’s home gym in England where she trained at before coming to the states and where she earned her black belt. Sophie often shares with us the European flair in her Judo Techniques that came from her home gym.
